Glengarry Primary School is a rural school of approximately 140 students, located only a short drive from Traralgon in the Latrobe Valley, Gippsland, Victoria. Our school was established in 1888 and is situated in the middle of the community orientated township of Glengarry.


We are proud to be an integral part of the Glengarry and district community with our student population drawn primarily from the township of Glengarry and its surrounding towns.

Glengarry is a proud community that is supportive of our local school. There are sporting facilities within the town which cater for football, netball and tennis. Building positive relationships with students and their families is highly valued by all. Our school values of `Respect, Resilience, Collaboration, Progress and Joy' underpin everything we do.


Our school offers a broad range of curriculum programs with a special emphasis on developing the essential skills of Literacy and Numeracy. Students participate in specialist programs, which include health and physical education, kitchen garden, visual arts, and STEM. The school is part of the Traralgon Rural Schools Cluster for sporting events. There are regular incursions and excursions that are aligned to student learning.

Program Benefits 

This position attracts an incentive payment of $5,650 (pre-tax) for the successful candidate who meets the eligibility criteria set out under conditions of employment.

Conditions of Employment 

All staff employed by the Department and schools have access to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements. 

The appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to satisfactory pre-employment conditions check. 

A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment and induction and support programs provided. 

Eligibility for incentive payments: 

  • The successful candidate is committing to a minimum of 1 year employment at this school. 
  • The successful candidate will not be a Graduate Teacher Incentive recipient from a previous vacancy. 
  • The successful candidate must not be employed as a teacher by the Department at the time the advertised position is to commence.
