Moriac Primary School has an enrolment of approximately 230 students. We have a strong sense of community and the school is firmly entrenched with the Moriac Township and surrounding communities.

Moriac Primary School was established in 1922, built by the Moriac Progress Association on land donated by the Deppeler Family. This origin epitomizes the sense of community partnership that underpins the success of Moriac Primary School.

Curriculum:

Moriac Primary School is a 'Professional Learning Community' of passionate, skilful educators whose focus is on ensuring that 'all children learn at their point of need'. We are committed in our belief that all children have the capacity to achieve success and are united in our efforts to ensure our students are given the best opportunities to learn, and achieve high quality success.

Our curriculum encompasses English (Phonics, Readers and Writers Workshop), Maths, Humanities and Respectful Relationships. Students also have the specialist subjects of Art, Physical Education, LOTE (French), Science and STEM.

Our school provides modern facilities including access to technology to support 21st century learning.

Wellbeing:

At Moriac Primary School we use School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPB) as an evidenced-based framework for preventing and responding to behaviours in school. This is a whole school approach to creating an environment which encourages effective learning through the development of a positive learning environment. We teach our students how to behave appropriately and uphold the school Core Values.

We recognise that learning socially acceptable behaviours is a process which everybody moves through at a different pace. Interventions and support have a common goal of maximising inclusion and building student capacity.

Program Benefits 

This position attracts an incentive payment of $5,650 (pre-tax) for the successful candidate who meets the eligibility criteria set out under conditions of employment.

Conditions of Employment 

All staff employed by the Department and schools have access to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements. 

The appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to satisfactory pre-employment conditions check. 

A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment and induction and support programs provided. 

Eligibility for incentive payments: 

  • The successful candidate is committing to a minimum of 1 year employment at this school. 
  • The successful candidate will not be a Graduate Teacher Incentive recipient from a previous vacancy. 
  • The successful candidate must not be employed as a teacher by the Department at the time the advertised position is to commence.
