2025 – Facilities Management Graduate - Construction - Retail

The Programme 

Job Purpose: 

To learn, explore, adopt and assist the business with long-term project work through research, analysis and by taking ownership of specific work streams (under suitable direction).  

With a focus on continually improving outcomes, the graduate will develop and use best practices to deliver services, applying theoretical knowledge and skills within a practical and complex work environment.  

By the end of the Graduate programme, the successful individual will be able to share solid knowledge about their experience. 

Working Conditions: 

  • Graduate program for 11 months.  
  • The graduates will be required to travel to some of our off-site offices occasionally.
  • Reporting Manager - The Graduate reports to the Senior Line Manager.
  • Direct Subordinates - No direct subordinates. 

Budget Responsibility: 

  • The graduate will not have any budgetary responsibility but will assist in preparing reports and processing invoices. 

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrating strong problem-solving approaches, including the ability to analyze and implement changes to service delivery and directly contribute to continuous service improvements.  
  • Demonstrating strong written and verbal communications daily by producing reports, papers, briefings, policies, articles and other documentation and presenting these as and when required.  
  • Assisting in implementing recommendations from their respective property sectors including monitoring and reviewing action plans.  
  • Preparing business reports and communication appropriate to the intended audience that delivers the required impact and outcomes.  
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with all colleagues within the host function/team, project teams and other key contacts, internally and externally. 
  • Becoming a proactive team member, participating in meetings and events as appropriate and required.  
  • Taking responsibility for your continuing professional and personal development. 
  • Contributing to the wider planning of the business as required. 
  • At all times, acting in accordance with Growthpoint values.  

Graduate Summary 
 
Cape Town – Retail Facilities Management: 

  • This individual will be exposed to all facilities management activities within the retail sector.   
  • From maintenance to supplier management, the Graduate will experience and learn how important it is to keep Retail Shopping Centers operating at their best. 
  • By the end of the Graduate programme, the successful individual will be able to share solid knowledge about their experience. 

Required Skills and Abilities 

  • Qualification Required: BSC Construction Management 

Competencies and Skills: 

  • Ability to work well under pressure.   
  • A good mix of interpersonal and analytical skills.   
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)  
  • Deadline focused.  
  • Strong presentation skills.  
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.   
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Good understanding of development and construction documents and agreements.
