1. Application
Start by submitting your application via the AFL Careers Portal. You’ll need your CV and Cover Letter ready to upload. Be sure to tailor your application to highlight your passion for sport, community, and leadership.
2. CV, Cover Letter & Screening Review
Once applications close, our Talent Team carefully reviews all submissions. We’re looking for potential, alignment with our values, and genuine motivation to be part of the AFL. This stage helps us identify candidates to progress through to the next phase.
3. One-Way Video Interview
If shortlisted, you’ll be invited to complete a short one-way video interview. This is your chance to tell us more about yourself, your experiences, and why you’d thrive at the AFL. The interview is self-recorded, so you can complete it at a time that suits you best.
4. Virtual Interview with Leaders
Successful candidates will be invited to a live virtual interview with leaders from across the AFL. This is a two-way conversation where you’ll gain insight into life at the AFL while we get to know you better—your values, how you work, and how you might contribute to our team culture.
5. Assessment Day (In-Person)
Shortlisted candidates will attend an in-person Assessment Day at AFL House, Melbourne. The day typically includes group activities, team challenges, presentations, and interviews with leaders. It’s a great opportunity to showcase your strengths and get a real feel for the AFL environment.
6. Offers
Following the Assessment Day, final decisions will be made. Successful candidates will receive an offer to join the AFL Graduate Program. Welcome to the team—we can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make.
