How has FDM helped you discover your tech career?

FDM enabled me to construct a fruitful and rewarding foundation both from a personal and professional perspective at a pivotal point in my career. The skills I have taken away have helped me manage both home and workplace problems and have had a tremendous impact on my development.

What is your current role and what does it entail?

My position on-site involves but is not limited to engaging and managing stakeholders, identifying and rectifying systematic redundancies, upholding governance frameworks, business case/opportunity canvas origination, end-to-end project delivery under agile methodology practices as well as business resource optimization in line with project timelines, budget and scope.

Teresa Martinez

Degree: Information Technology and Cyber Security
Role: Data Engineer

How has FDM helped you discover your tech career?

I joined FDM because they have great opportunities for career growth, especially their training. They are also all about diversity and inclusion, which was very appealing to me. Not only do I owe FDM my actual position, but they have always made me feel supported. They reach out to you regularly to give support on your career journey and during your placement. On top of that there are many social events in which you can network and connect with colleges that are working with different clients of theirs as well as meet new FDM-ers that have just joined.

What is your current role and what does it entail?

I now work as a Data Engineer, as part of the Powered Data team. We are currently building the SAP pathway, which involves creating a template that will be used globally to migrate data from on premises SAP platform to their new instances. We implement this with the following process: Identifying data quality issues, performing required transformations, generating payloads, reconciling target and source, and finally presenting the result to business.

Chaoying Wan

Degree: Computer Engineering
Role: Cyber Engineer

How has FDM helped you discover your tech career?

With no tech-related work experience, I decided to join FDM because they provided high-quality training for the skills needed to start my tech career. The technical and soft skills training was very useful for my career path, and FDM provided backup support when I was on client site.

What is your current role and what does it entail?

Currently, as a Cyber Engineer, based in Melbourne, I help people and teams solve problems with my skills in Excel, Splunk, and Powershell. My role entails a lot of project management. E.g. Agile. There are two tasks I found really interesting, one was using Splunk to create a dashboard to monitor data in time. Another was using programming to achieve automation and therefore improve working efficiency.
